Business Minutes
Nov. 2009
Our meeting was held on a very beautiful rare November day in Kindred
• Pictures-Aerial photos of the Albany showed were displayed--Great Show
• Ray motion, Joe second-Secretary’s report approved
• Treasurer’s report, no outstanding bills, took in $900 with the quilt today$5000 tickets $1750 Merchandise -- prior to today -- we were able to make enough to justify our raffle
• Brady motion, Joe second-Treasurer’s report approved
• Plow day was great fun-wet -- DuWayne brought CD’s of Nate and Deb’s pictures
• Albany-Eisenschenk’s gave us an updateGreat show, lots of machinery, 530 tractors on a goal of 360, crushed JD, beautiful weather, 1908-1909 tractors, Manny International brought out new D model semi -- Our best show and Albany’s best show for people and dollars-Great 35th Anniversary show for Albany --- Thank you to all who participated!
• It was decided in Albany to do another raffle, tried to look at one but it was sold-Dale found another but the guy lied about it,DuWayne and Miles looked it but found a different one on the same trip-very nice “H” tractor, great runner, 1940, good raffle since it is light weight, can be pulled by almost anything and will fit on a car trailer, and it was a well perceived tractor -- we should paint the body of the tractor as it is gas stained, sandblast and paint rims, Miles and DuWayne will take it back and get it done and ready for tickets --- the “M” was at Red Horizons in Glenwood and sold $120 worth, better than nothing.
• Dale will get permit number to Alice who will get 10,000 tickets printed.
• Several people were at the national auction-no recession there - very nice high dollar items with 3 times more tractors than any other national auction, excellent auctioneers did a great job, SD chapter didn’t make a whole lot but didn’t have to do a whole lot either, we could do one even with our membership, 20% fee for literature, 15 for toys, and 8 on tractors - we should try our own smaller auction, we could use Steffes in Litchfield or Ritchie Brothers in Buxton.
• Insurance, the national is making Chapters pay for some on National show-fine for us, we already have it
• Pillow cases made by Heidi Mitchell were won by Miles Thiel
• Lunch-very good-thank you to Dale’s family for making it
• Club shirts-DuWayne’s aunt and uncle have an embroidery shop and could do it -- S-XL are $28, 2XL are $40, 3XL are $42 + $10/emblem -- if you want to buy it is between you and them and style is red and black short sleeve so we have uniformity with the old logo that we used on the jackets -- we will look at updating our logo, DuWayne will get more info and update us
• Raffle -- 1st- Jay Hackett -- 2nd-Brian Johnson -- 3rd-Dale Hawkins
• Upcoming events -- Feb 13th meeting, Feb 14th meeting in Watertown HyVee with SD chapter, June? Fun and meeting at Boehm’s/Maplewood State Park, August 21&22 meeting and plowing at Schlief’s, Sept 10-12 Andover show with SD, November13th in Kindred for raffle --- Joe motioned to use Nov 13th for raffle, Marge second, approved
Elections in February-Donne, Dale, Sheila, Jeremy are up this year and all said they would run again. Miles Thiel will also run and Mike Lezur was railroaded into it (mike since you weren’t there you have DuWayne , Miles, Nate to thank for that)
• “H” raffle was discussed to see what we want to do to it-paint chassis, drawbar, seat, hammerstap, carb, front emblem, screen in grille? -- tractor is at Mile’s shop if you want to help
• 2010 Activities -- Bonanzaville invited us to have an entire display during Big Iron-should we do a clean up weekend for them for helping sell raffle tickets, Parade and picnic sponsored by Maplewood Repair, Insurance due in April, plowing in Tyler ND
• New website-Lindsey and Brady - DuWayne motion, Lloyd second to make new. Rod will call Roger and explain what is going on with it. Approved for Lindsey and Brady to work on it.
• Merchandise-coasters, cuddlee’s, pillow cases. Dale, Nate, Vickie are on the merch committee, give suggestions to them
• Meal at Plowing-way too fancy/expensive. DuWayne is raising some pigs and could donate 1 for supper. We need to address the plowing meals and what we need to do.
• Marge motion to Adjourn.
